Montreal to celebrate Canada Day with free events at Grand Quai

Montrealers and visitors will be able to celebrate Canada Day at the Grand Quai of the Port of Montreal on July 1 with a free day of family-friendly activities, live music and official ceremonies.

Organizers say this year’s event will be held under the theme “In Montreal, Canada comes together in motion,” with activities designed to bring people together through movement, play and celebration.

The festivities will include the arrival of participants in Le Canada en marche, a 21-gun salute by the Canadian Armed Forces, a flag-raising ceremony, the national anthem and a citizenship ceremony welcoming new Canadians.

Family activities inspired by soccer, aerospace and hockey will begin at 2 p.m., while food trucks, picnic areas and Canada Day mini-cakes will also be available.

The celebration will feature live performances throughout the day by Anyma Ora’, King Melrose, William Cloutier and Antonin Prinz.

The event is free and open to the public.
