A couple from Montérégie are newly minted multi-millionaires after winning a $40 million Lotto Max draw last week.
Joseph Gosselin-Rompré and Mylène Bourgeois got the news of their fortune after returning from a fishing trip.
“We couldn’t believe it at first,” he said, recalling the moment he saw the winning amount on his phone screen. Just to be sure, he went to a retailer to validate the ticket.
The ticket was purchased at a Boni Soir store, in Sorel-Tracy, whose owner will also receive $400,000.
Gosselin-Rompré, who is in his 40s, says the windfall will allow him to spend more time on his two favourite hobbies: fishing and golfing.
The couple said they also plan to spoil their three children and are deciding whether to sell or renovate their home.
