Kelowna police looking for dangerous motorcycle driver

West Kelowna RCMP are asking the public for help in identifying the driver of a motorcycle that engaged in dangerous driving on July 2.

At about 5 p.m., officers were driving on Highway 97, near Grizzley Road, when they saw a sport motorcycle engaging in stunts, including riding on wheel in the middle of the highway.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle drove alongside their vehicle and they were able to get video footage on their body-worn camera.

The driver is described as a man wearing a white helmet.

RCMP officers put on their lights and siren to pull the driver over.

At first, police say, it looked like the rider was going to stop but then the driver sped off and continued southbound on Highway 97.

“Choosing to accelerate away from police at a high rate of speed is reckless and unacceptable,” said Cst. Ash Puri, West Kelowna’s media resource officer.

“While officers discontinued their attempt to stop the motorcycle in the interest of public safety, we remain committed to identifying the rider. We encourage anyone with information to come forward and assist investigators.”

West Kelowna RCMP ask for anyone with information regarding the identity of the motorcycle rider contact police and reference file number 2026-41288.
