A 64-year-old driver is recovering in hospital after his vehicle collided with another car before crashing into an apartment building Friday evening in Montreal’s Anjou borough.
Montreal police (SPVM) say officers were called to the intersection of Châteauneuf Boulevard and Baldwin Street shortly after 6 p.m. following reports of a collision.
According to police, the man was travelling on Châteauneuf Boulevard when, for reasons that have not yet been determined, he changed lanes and struck another vehicle before continuing into the apartment building.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police said Saturday morning that he is now out of danger.
A woman in her 40s who was driving the second vehicle was also transported to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Investigators are expected to interview the 64-year-old driver once his condition allows.
A collision reconstruction investigator has been assigned to determine what led to the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
