A CN merchandise train derailment happened Sunday afternoon in Repentigny, in the Le Gardeur sector – no injuries have been reported.
“A rail incident occurred at the intersection of Le Bourg-Neuf Boulevard and Émile-Genest Street,” the City of Repentigny stated in a post on its social media accounts. “Our emergency response teams (firefighters and police) are currently on the scene.”
The city’s mayor, Nicolas Dufour, explained in a Facebook post that they didn’t have any information indicating anyone was injured. “We also have no information suggesting that the train was carrying hazardous materials,” added Dufour.
The City of Repentigny informed residents that all necessary measures are being taken to secure the area quickly and that a precautionary power outage is underway in the area where the derailment occurred.
