A 67-year-old man was apprehended by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) for brandishing a chainsaw in the West End neighborhood. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on a Wednesday evening when the man, who was heard shouting obscenities near Davie Street and Denman Street, started advancing towards people with the electric chainsaw in hand near a local coffee shop.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as bystanders swiftly called 911, leading to the quick arrest of the individual within three minutes of the emergency call. The arrest took place at the intersection of Beach Avenue and Burnaby Street. The VPD has charged the man with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
