Chilliwack RCMP have released a statement that an ongoing investigation throughout the month of May has resulted in several charges being laid against a 33-year-old man.
After noticing an uptick in residential break and enter, theft of vehicles, and other property crime in Chilliwack, the RCMP stated they used crime linkage analysis to identify a suspect.
Several vehicles were stolen between May 3 and 15 from residences on Midtown Way, Spadina Avenue, and Angus Drive, police say.
All vehicles were found the same day as they were stolen by the RCMP.
One of the vehicles, stolen from Angus Drive, was found with a man inside who was showing signs of intoxication.
Bank cards taken from the residences on Midtown Way and Spadina Avenue were used in fraudulent purchases across the Chilliwack area.
On May 6 and 7, homes were broken into on Linwood Street and Quarry Road. Cars were stolen from both homes and recovered by police the same day.
An attempted break in at a home on Evans Road happened on May 13, leaving damage to a vehicle. The suspect was gone before police arrived on scene and nothing was stolen.
The Chilliwack RCMP Priority Target Team (PTT) identified a possible suspect and assumed conduct of a targeted investigation.
The investigation resulted in the BC Prosecution Service approving several charges against the 33-year-old man.
These include:
The man has been arrested and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
