Montreal Police Probe Mysterious Car Torching Incident in Rivière-des-Prairies

Montreal police are currently investigating a recent incident in the Rivière-des-Prairies neighborhood where an SUV was set ablaze and a pick-up truck was left significantly damaged on a Thursday night.

The incident was brought to the attention of the police through multiple 911 calls close to midnight, reporting a burning vehicle at the corner of Arthur-Léveillé Street and 5th Avenue.

Upon their arrival, authorities found firefighters already on the scene, working diligently to contain the flames.

According to SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils, the SUV was completely destroyed in the fire, while the nearby pick-up truck sustained noticeable damage.

Despite thorough examination, no evidence of an incendiary device was found, leaving the exact cause of the fire a mystery.

The investigation is actively being pursued by the SPVM arson unit, with the car having been towed for further analysis. Authorities are also looking into potential surveillance footage in the vicinity to gather more clues.
