Heroic Rescue at Mount Brunswick: Lions Bay Team Saves Injured Hiker in Dramatic Cliffside Operation

Over the weekend, Lions Bay Search and Rescue (LBSAR) sprang into action to aid a hiker who had hurt his ankle while descending Mount Brunswick. According to LBSAR, the man injured his ankle after stepping on a loose rock while coming down from the summit.

As a result, he was unable to continue his hike. LBSAR collaborated with North Shore Rescue and Talon Helicopters to perform a “hoist extraction” at an elevation of around 1,550 meters. Thanks to the joint effort, rescuers successfully evacuated the injured hiker from Mount Brunswick.

Following the rescue operation, the hiker was airlifted to Lions Bay School field, where he received treatment for his ankle injury. Eventually, he was driven back home by his companion who was hiking with him, as reported by LBSAR.
