“Teen Arrested with Fake Firearm on REM Train Sparks Security Scare”

Montreal Police respond to reports of firearm on REM train, discover it’s a replica, educating individual on risks of carrying it in public.

Montreal Police (SPVM) swiftly acted upon receiving multiple 911 calls from concerned passengers reporting a possible firearm aboard a REM train on Saturday evening. Responding to the calls, officers intercepted the train at Ville-de-Mont-Royal Station and found a 19-year-old man in possession of what turned out to be an airsoft gun, not a real weapon.

Following investigations, it was determined that no criminal offense had taken place, and the individual was not charged. However, the man was educated by the officers about the dangers of carrying a replica firearm in public, emphasizing the potential for it to be mistaken for a real gun.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident. The brief disruption in REM service due to the police response was quickly resolved as officers ensured the safety of the area before normal train operations resumed.
