A CityNews Calgary journalist is being hailed as a hero for his quick actions in rescuing a man from the Bow River at Harvie Passage. Phoenix Phillips, a former lifeguard, sprang into action upon hearing a woman’s cry about a person in the water. Without hesitation, Phillips rushed to the scene and, with the help of bystanders, managed to pull the man to safety. Performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and coordinating efforts with others, Phillips dedicated fifteen critical minutes to saving the man’s life, all while staying focused on giving him a fighting chance.
The man was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, and the attending physician later confirmed that he had a pulse thanks to the swift actions of Phoenix and the assisting group. Despite minor injuries sustained during the rescue, Phillips emerged as a humble hero, emphasizing the importance of knowing first aid and being prepared to help others in need.
