The St-Michel Metro Station Renovation Project is Successfully Completed
After an extensive $14-million renovation project, the St-Michel metro station has been fully restored to its former glory. The transit agency, STM, announced the completion of the repair work, including the reopening of the secondary entrance and ticket booth that had been closed for months.
The renovation initiative, prompted by significant structural deterioration discovered in the fall of 2024, involved the reconstruction of concrete slabs, staircases, and escalator reinforcement. Additionally, outdoor sidewalk and ventilation shaft repairs were undertaken to ensure the safety and functionality of the station.
Furthermore, the adjacent Sandro-Pertini Park restoration project is nearing its conclusion, enhancing the overall appeal of the station surroundings.
In response to the station’s condition and recognizing the need for extensive upkeep across its properties, the STM emphasized the importance of prioritizing asset maintenance with the support of new funding from the Canada Public Transit Fund (CPTF).
