“Cyclist Safety Alert: Two Injured in Car Collision on Montreal Streets”

Two cyclists in their 60s were struck by a vehicle in Montreal’s Ville-Marie neighborhood on Thursday evening. The incident occurred at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Frontenac streets, prompting a 911 call to the Montreal police (SPVM) at around 5:10 p.m.

According to authorities, the cyclists, traveling east on Sainte-Catherine Street, were hit by a car heading north on Frontenac Street. The impact resulted in both men sustaining injuries, leading to their hospitalization. One of the cyclists, aged 65, is currently in critical condition, while the other, aged 61, is in stable condition, as confirmed by SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a 41-year-old man, cooperated with investigators to determine the sequence of events that led to the collision. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed in the incident.

Due to the police investigation at the scene, traffic in the area was diverted for several hours following the accident.

The SPVM continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, emphasizing the importance of road safety for all users.
