A woman reported being sexually assaulted in Whitby, leading to charges against a 33-year-old Ajax resident.
According to Durham Region police, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on July 13 as the woman was leaving Iroquois Beach Park. She was walking along the sand path when an unknown man allegedly forced her off the path into a tree line, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her.
After a thorough investigation by the Special Victims Unit and help from the public, the suspect was identified. On July 16, 2026, authorities located and arrested Dwayne Horace Daley in Whitby without any issues.
Daley faces charges including sexual assault, uttering threats, robbery, and four counts of failing to comply with a release order. Investigators noted that Daley was under house arrest curfew conditions at the time of the incident.
