A man from the Quebec City area is celebrating an early retirement after hitting the jackpot and winning $1 million in the Loto-Québec’s Extra draw.
Guy Perreault, the lucky winner, realized his fortune when he checked his lottery ticket the morning after the June 24 draw. Initially thinking he had won $100,000, a closer look revealed that he had actually snagged the top prize of $1 million.
With his newfound wealth, Perreault wasted no time in making life-altering decisions. He promptly went to work at 5:30 a.m. to inform his employer of his retirement plans.
“I’m looking forward to a peaceful and enjoyable life,” Perreault expressed as he accepted his prize at the Salon de jeux de Québec.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Marché Express on Boulevard de l’Ormière in Quebec City, with the retailer set to receive a $10,000 commission for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
Perreault’s win adds to a streak of significant lottery victories in the Capitale-Nationale region. In a similar stroke of luck, another local resident, Maude Simard, recently pocketed $1 million with a Lotto 6/49 ticket bought in Saint-Pierre-de-l’Île-d’Orléans.
