A man in his 50s drowned Saturday afternoon in the Lanaudière region.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 2 p.m. in the Chemin des Chutes area of Mandeville, where a man in his 50s was in cardiac arrest.
“According to the information gathered, the man was swimming when he reportedly failed to resurface,” said Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
“He was reportedly rescued by bystanders before being transported to a hospital, where, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead,” added Deshaies.
A coroner’s investigation is underway to better understand the circumstances of the incident.
