The final person charged in the fatal beating of a Montreal father of two outside the Orange Julep has been sentenced, bringing the high-profile case to a close.
Nedjem Eddine Khirat, 26, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter in the death of 50-year-old Andrei Petuhov. Justice Dennis Galiatsatos ruled that Khirat will receive credit for time spent in pre-trial custody, leaving him with just under eight years remaining to serve.

Petuhov died two days after he was brutally assaulted in the Orange Julep parking lot on May 31, 2023, following an altercation with a group of young men. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Khirat is the third and final man to be sentenced in connection with the deadly attack.
Ismail Karaoui, identified as the man who threw the first punch, was arrested in France after fleeing Canada and later extradited to face charges. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a sentence of just under two years after credit for time served. He will also serve two years of probation upon release, is prohibited from possessing weapons, and was ordered to provide a DNA sample.
Yasser Sali pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to aggravated assault and homicide after learning of Petuhov’s death. He was also sentenced to just under two years in prison.
With Khirat’s sentencing, the legal proceedings surrounding the fatal Orange Julep assault have now concluded.
