For the past 75 years, Camp Massawippi in Ayer’s Cliff, Quebec, located around 143 kilometers away from Montreal in the Eastern Townships, has been a haven for children and adults with physical disabilities to enjoy all the fun of a summer camp experience without any limitations. Since its founding in 1951, the camp has been instrumental in creating lasting friendships, fostering confidence, and promoting independence among its diverse campers.
Gustave Soucy-Breton, a camper at the facility, expressed his love for the camp, noting that it allows people to truly be themselves. The inclusive nature of Camp Massawippi has endeared it to many, making it a cherished retreat for campers like Gustave.
This bilingual camp attracts individuals from various parts of Quebec and beyond, offering a welcoming environment for all. With accessible cabins, specially curated meals, and round-the-clock nursing support, the camp ensures that all campers feel secure and cared for during their stay.
Karl Boulé, the camp’s executive director, emphasized the importance of creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere for both campers and their families. As Camp Massawippi gears up to celebrate its 75th anniversary on August 9th, a grand gathering is planned to commemorate the legacy of inclusivity, community spirit, and unforgettable experiences that define the camp.

Situated on a 19-acre property, Camp Massawippi offers a range of adapted activities such as waterskiing, sailing, arts and crafts, campfires, and themed days, ensuring that every camper can find something they enjoy.
