Several Quebec artists are on the shortlist for the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize, unveiled Wednesday afternoon by CBC. Among them are “Fabienk” by the Saguenay-based group Angine de Poitrine, and “House on Fire” by singer-songwriters Patrick Watson and Martha Wainwright.
The SOCAN Polaris Song Prize, valued at $10,000, aims to reward the Canadian song of the year.
Other finalists on the shortlist include “Lean” by Charlotte Day Wilson and Saya Gray, “Hunger for death” by the band PUP, and “Hurts like hell” by Charlotte Cornfield.
The winner’s name will be revealed during the Polaris Awards concert and ceremony on September 22 at Massey Hall in Toronto.
The shortlist for the Song Prize follows an initial selection of 20 pieces which was unveiled on June 24th.
