“Alert for Montreal Drivers: Major Closure on Route 136 Eastbound, Aug. 3-6 – Plan Your Detour Now!”

Next week, Montreal will experience traffic delays due to a closure on Route 136 in the eastbound direction.

The closure is essential for private storm sewer connection work, according to the transport ministry.

Starting on Monday, Aug. 3 at 5 a.m. until Thursday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m., Exit No. 3 (Downtown Montreal / Guy Street) on Route 136 will be fully closed. Temporary signage will guide drivers along the detour route.

This exit is crucial as it is the final exit before entering the Ville-Marie Tunnel. Vehicles carrying hazardous materials or exceeding a height of 4.4 meters must use the previous exit (No. 2 – Atwater Avenue).

In case of unfavorable weather conditions or operational restrictions, the work may be delayed.

Drivers are advised to check the Québec 511 website or download the mobile app for real-time updates.
