Two young sisters, aged 17 and 23, ventured into uncharted territory by opening a café named Unscripted near Waterfront Station in just a month. Despite their lack of prior restaurant experience, Angel Dee and Sara Dee embraced the challenge with enthusiasm.
Angel Dee humorously remarked on their journey, stating, “Now it’s like day 55 of something, so clearly it didn’t happen. It’s just like how our name is Unscripted. And we don’t know what we’re doing or how this was going to go.” Sara Dee, who had minimal experience working at Tim Hortons, acknowledged the stark difference in running their own café.
Their social media followers witnessed the sisters’ learning curve as they navigated the intricacies of using an espresso machine, refurbishing the café space, and perfecting their menu through recipe trials. Surprisingly, the paperwork proved to be the most tedious task, consuming much of their time.
After months of hard work and sleepless nights, the café had a soft opening on a Wednesday, aiming to create a cozy retreat in the bustling financial district. Angel Dee revealed the personal investment they had made, emphasizing the café as a culmination of their lifelong savings and a bold leap into entrepreneurship.
The sisters aspire to motivate others to embrace uncertainty and pursue their dreams, advocating for learning through experience rather than waiting for perfection. Their menu, influenced by their Asian heritage, features unique offerings like a sweet corn latte and mango slushy.
