Tragic House Fire in Mission Claims Life and Pets
In a devastating incident in Mission, a person has tragically passed away and multiple pets were discovered deceased in the aftermath of a house fire that broke out early on a Friday morning.
The Mission Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) swiftly responded to the blaze at a residence located on Third Avenue, just west of Murray Street, at approximately 5:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a fierce inferno engulfing the back of the house, while dense black smoke billowed from the front entrance.
Deputy Chief Nick Rychkun stated, “Firefighters were informed that not all occupants had been safely evacuated at that time.”
The brave firefighters immediately launched a bold interior assault, penetrating the ground floor and then progressing to the heavily fire-engulfed second floor.
Another individual was rushed to the hospital due to smoke inhalation, as confirmed by MFRS.
As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown, with fire investigators staying on the scene throughout the day to conduct a thorough investigation.
