Environment Canada has removed a red tornado warning that was previously issued for parts of the Greater Golden Horseshoe region on Sunday. The warning was issued as meteorologists were monitoring a severe thunderstorm that had the potential to generate a tornado, along with risks of damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall.
The areas affected by the warning included St. Catharines, Grimsby, Welland, and the Niagara Region. While the tornado warning has been lifted, a yellow rainfall warning remains in effect, with anticipated rainfall of up to 50 mm on Sunday.
Residents can expect multiple thunderstorms passing through the region before conditions clear up for the upcoming Civic holiday.
