Montreal authorities have handed over the investigation of a mosque fire in the city’s Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood to the Montreal Police (SPVM) due to uncertainty about the cause. The fire department was unable to determine the reason behind the blaze, prompting the police to take charge.
According to SPVM media relations officer Johany Charland, the investigation is currently not being viewed as a criminal act, with no proof indicating intentional setting of the fire. The file has been transitioned to the police for further examination after the initial inconclusive findings by the fire department.
In the upcoming phase, investigators will strive to uncover the origins of the fire that damaged the mosque.
