“Authorities Hunt for Culprits Behind $30K Rental Scam in Mississauga”

Peel Regional Police are on the lookout for two individuals involved in an apartment rental scam that has defrauded at least eight victims in Mississauga, resulting in losses exceeding $30,000.

According to investigators, the fraudulent activities took place between January and February 2025, with the suspects using social media to post fake rental listings. Prospective renters were lured to view the apartments by individuals posing as current tenants.

After signing rental agreements online and sending e-transfers to secure the units, the victims soon realized that the apartments were non-existent, and the supposed landlords had disappeared without a trace.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Jashanpreet Sidhu, 23, from Saskatoon, and Priyanshu Goel, 24, from Surrey, British Columbia, on charges related to fraud and possession of unlawfully obtained property.

The victims, unfortunately, did not receive the accommodations they paid for nor did they get their money back.

If you have any information regarding the suspects or the scam, please reach out to the Fraud Bureau. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

Please note that these allegations have not yet been proven in court.
