A wildfire in təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park triggered evacuations and alerts for nearby properties. Two properties were evacuated while 35 others were put on alert as the fire burned across 1.5 hectares near the Sugar Mountain Trail. Metro Vancouver confirmed ongoing wildfire suppression efforts, with crews focusing on hot spots and containment lines. The Regional District informed that crews would continue working overnight, with the possibility of deploying air assets after a morning assessment on Thursday. The multi-agency response included the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department, Port Moody Fire Rescue, Metro Vancouver Regional District, BC Wildfire Service, and three helicopters.
Acting Mayor Doug Richardson of the Village of Anmore activated the Emergency Operations Centre to assist in the response, ensuring support for the community. He emphasized the importance of residents following official updates from the Village and Metro Vancouver for accurate information. Fortunately, no structures were reported damaged or lost in the area. BC Hydro also closed Buntzen Lake until further notice due to the wildfire.
