The former Durham Regional Police officer, Kevin Seamons, is facing new charges in a decades-old sexual assault case, according to the province’s police watchdog.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has announced that Seamons is now facing five additional charges related to the alleged sexual assault of another woman between May 1999 and December 2009.
Previously charged with 22 sexual assault-related offenses in May 2026, including counts of sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and breach of trust involving a 17-year-old girl dating back to 2003, Seamons has a complex legal history.
Documents from the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services reveal that Seamons pleaded guilty to 10 counts of professional misconduct, many of which involved interactions with the teen at the center of the criminal case. This included unauthorized visits to her home and taking her on rides in his cruiser while on duty.
Seamons’ dismissal from the police force in 2006 followed claims that he had developed an inappropriate relationship with the girl and her family after an initial encounter at the police station in 2003.
Despite his dismissal, Seamons argued that his actions were misunderstood, stating that he saw himself as a supportive figure in the girl’s life rather than a law enforcement officer.
Scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 28, 2026, to address the new charges, Seamons continues to be entangled in legal proceedings stemming from his time as a constable.
