Authorities Seek Eyewitnesses for Surrey Motorcycle Crash Involving Police; Investigation Underway

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO) is currently looking into a motorcycle crash that occurred as the rider allegedly attempted to evade Surrey Police officers in the early hours of Friday.

Reportedly, an officer from the Surrey Police Service made an effort to pull over a speeding motorcyclist around 3:30 a.m. on August 7. However, rather than stopping, the rider chose to flee, eventually veering into oncoming traffic and colliding with a vehicle.

Emergency Health Services paramedics from British Columbia swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance to the motorcyclist, who sustained serious injuries and was subsequently taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Given its responsibility as the watchdog for law enforcement in the province, the IIO has taken over the investigation, aiming to delve into the details and circumstances of the crash incident.

The investigative team is reaching out to any individuals who may have witnessed the crash or possess relevant footage captured on dashcams or cellphones, urging them to come forward and share their accounts with the IIO.
