The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) is seeking the public’s help following a serious collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle near Cranbrook. The incident, which occurred on August 5 at the junction of Highway 95A and Mission Wycliffe Road, left the motorcyclist with severe injuries.
The collision involved a grey Chevrolet Silverado and a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck, a 28-year-old woman, emerged unharmed from the crash. However, the motorcyclist, a 39-year-old male RCMP officer, sustained significant injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital.
BCHP has taken charge of the investigation to ensure its impartiality and is urging any witnesses, especially those with dash camera footage capturing the events leading up to the collision, to come forward. Sgt. Michael McLaughlin emphasized the importance of independent accounts in piecing together the details of the incident.
While impairment and excessive speed have been ruled out as contributing factors, the authorities are keen to gather as much information as possible to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the crash.
