In the early hours of Friday morning, chaos erupted in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough as a group of teenagers clashed with gas station employees, resulting in a 21-year-old worker being injured.
According to Montreal police (SPVM), multiple 911 calls flooded in around 12:30 a.m., alerting authorities to a large gathering of teens at the intersection of Papineau Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard, near the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
The adolescents, ranging from 14 to 19 years old, had congregated in a nearby parking lot and began hurling objects at the gas station convenience store, sparking a confrontation when some employees stepped outside, as stated by SPVM spokesperson Florence Stafford.
While two employees were struck by the objects but escaped unharmed, a third employee – a 21-year-old male – suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Upon the police’s swift intervention, the crowd was dispersed, though no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
