British Columbia Premier David Eby announced a state of emergency throughout the province in response to the surge in wildfire incidents within the last day.
The recent wildfire outbreak in Summerland prompted the evacuation of more than 20,000 residents.
Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, Kelly Greene, the minister overseeing emergency management and climate readiness, urged all individuals within the designated evacuation zones to promptly leave their homes and seek refuge at reception centers as needed.
Cliff Chapman, the director of operations at BC Wildfire, expressed astonishment at the unprecedented conditions witnessed during the Summerland inferno.
