The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is currently conducting an investigation following a tragic incident where a pedestrian lost her life in a collision in North Burnaby on Monday evening.
Authorities were alerted to the collision at the intersection of Pender Street and MacDonald Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 68-year-old woman from Burnaby with severe injuries.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene and being rushed to the hospital, the woman ultimately succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by the police in a recent press statement.
It was reported that the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The RCMP has enlisted the expertise of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) to aid in the collection of crucial evidence at the accident site.
Efforts are underway to unravel the events leading up to the tragic collision as authorities work diligently to piece together the sequence of events.
