TTC CEO Mandeep Lali said strategies developed ahead of the FIFA World Cup earlier this summer will be in effect again for this weekend.
“We will have our rapid response teams, we will have the Dufferin Express routes functioning, we’ll have the 509 and 511, we’ll have customer service agents onboard, so we will deal with the customers, we will deal with any issues that should occur.”
Metrolinx is also adjusting service with extra trains on the Lakeshore West and East lines this weekend, including later hours and more buses out of Union Station.
City officials tell CityNews is has also implemented its plan to keep pedestrians and motorists moving.
“We will be placing traffic agents at busy locations around the city to help people move around efficiently and more effectively,” said Andrew Posluns, the city’s chief congestion officer. “We will be adjusting signal timing in places where we know there is a propensity for traffic to accumulate, to be able to move that traffic through more quickly. And we’ll also be adjusting things like signage to help people move around.”
The advice of course for anybody headed to one of these events, or even just getting into the area, is give yourself plenty of extra time.
