An evacuation alert has been issued for several properties in the Village of Lions Bay due to the nearby Lone Tree Creek wildfire.
In a post on social media, the Village said the alert is in effect for around 30 properties.
“This evacuation alert is to prepare you in the event that there is a need to evacuate your premises or property should an evacuation order be re-issued,” the post said.
“Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible before evacuation is ordered; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.”
The alert applies to all properties on Oceanview Road with house numbers of 245 and above and those on Kelvin Grove Road, with house numbers of 155 and above.
Lions Bay Search and Rescue said Sunday it was involved in rescuing hikers from the Mount Unnecessary and Erin Moore trails.
The Lone Tree Creek wildfire was discovered Sunday and as of Monday morning is burning at around 0.1 hectares, according to the BC Wildfire Service. The blaze is believed to have been caused by lightning related to recent storms across B.C.’s South Coast.
