After a nearly four-year investigation, Toronto police have made a significant breakthrough in the case of Ding Ping Wang’s tragic death in 2022. The arrest and charging of Justin Longshaw, a 39-year-old Toronto resident, with first-degree murder marks a turning point in the prolonged investigation.
The incident occurred on November 12, 2022, when Wang, aged 31, was fatally shot in the Midland Avenue and Passmore Avenue area in Scarborough. Responding to a call about an “unknown trouble,” officers discovered Wang inside a vehicle in a plaza parking lot. According to police, an unidentified assailant approached the vehicle and shot Wang at close range, resulting in his death at the scene.
The case had presented challenges, with investigators initially lacking suspect descriptions and viable leads, but the recent developments have shed light on the circumstances surrounding Wang’s tragic demise.
