BIXI, a popular bike sharing company, has recently expanded its services, now reaching the neighborhoods of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Montreal West. This expansion includes the deployment of seven convenient stations in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, strategically located in high-traffic areas. The newly introduced fleet of 64 bicycles consists of 32 electric-assist bikes and 32 regular bicycles, providing residents with more sustainable transportation options for their daily commutes.
In Montreal West, three new stations have been established, further extending the bike network in Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce to the Montreal West train station. This increase brings the total number of stations at the Montreal West train station to two, enhancing accessibility and convenience for cyclists in the area.
Christian Vermette, the general manager of BIXI Montreal, highlighted the significance of this expansion, emphasizing the company’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and providing residents with increased mobility choices. Vermette expressed that the growing interest in sustainable transportation solutions has been a driving force behind these developments, catering to the evolving needs of the community.
This recent launch builds upon BIXI’s previous expansion efforts in the western part of the island, such as the introduction of six stations in Dorval in July. The continuous expansion of BIXI’s bike sharing network demonstrates the company’s dedication to promoting eco-friendly transportation options and improving accessibility across different neighborhoods.
