Authorities are currently searching for a man in his sixties who went missing while out on Lake Stukley, situated between Orford and Eastman in the Eastern Townships.
The man ventured out alone on a boat around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday but failed to return at the anticipated time. Concerned individuals notified the police around midnight, prompting an immediate search effort despite the late hour.
Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), stated, “The search, in collaboration with our fire department partners, led to the discovery of the empty boat on the lake around 1:00 a.m. this morning.”
Additional support has been enlisted for the search on Sunday, taking advantage of daylight hours.
“Numerous resources have been mobilized to locate the missing man. The Sûreté du Québec helicopter and SQ divers are actively involved in the operation. Our focus remains on finding the man in his sixties and unraveling the circumstances surrounding his disappearance,” emphasized Sergeant Deshaies.
