Montreal resident Abir Batikhi’s heart-wrenching ordeal finally reached a joyous conclusion when her beloved missing cat, Caramel, was safely returned home after a harrowing 16-day journey.
Caramel, a seven-year-old feline, went missing at Toronto Pearson airport, sparking a desperate search effort that intensified as each day passed.
Describing Caramel as a “survivor,” Batikhi expressed her gratitude, calling the cat’s return a miracle given the vastness of the airport. She praised the airport employees for their dedicated efforts in rescuing Caramel.
The dramatic turn of events unfolded when Batikhi, traveling from Jordan to Toronto with her four cats, discovered Caramel missing from her carrier upon arrival at the airport.
Though the circumstances of Caramel’s escape remain a mystery, the airport staff successfully located and captured her on September 2 using humane traps.
Airport officials commended the collaborative rescue mission, acknowledging the crucial role played by Falcon Environmental in locating Caramel.
Batikhi’s relief was palpable upon receiving the news of Caramel’s safe recovery. Recounting the emotional moment, she described the pain of seeing Caramel’s condition upon their reunion in Montreal, where the cat was transported on September 4.
