After a recent torrential downpour caused chaos with flooding and power outages in Toronto and the GTA, wet weather is set to return. CityNews Chief Meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai predicts another round of storms on Wednesday, although not as severe as the previous week’s deluge.
Ramsahai rates the upcoming storm at a moderate five or six out of 10 in terms of intensity, lower than the previous week’s extreme 10/10 rating. Expect heavy downpours in the afternoon, raising the possibility of localized flooding and lightning from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Compared to last week’s damaging wind gusts of up to 130 kilometers per hour, this time winds are anticipated to be milder, ranging from 60 to 80 kilometers per hour. Ramsahai reassures that wind damage and power outages are less likely unless winds exceed 90 kilometers per hour.
The risk of hail and tornadoes remains minimal for this round of storms, offering some relief to residents bracing for more wet weather.
