Durham Regional Police apprehend 13-year-old boy with weapon at Ajax hotel
Durham Regional Police made an arrest at an Ajax hotel on Wednesday after responding to a call regarding ‘unknown trouble’. The incident took place at a hotel near Westney Road South and Bayly Street West.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male individual in possession of a knife. The suspect was apprehended without resistance, and further investigation revealed a potential firearm in his possession.
With the assistance of a K9 Unit, law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the premises, leading to the discovery and confiscation of a firearm.
The 13-year-old from Ajax is now facing a total of 15 charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon. Notably, the charges encompass multiple violations of release and probation orders, indicating a prior history of legal restrictions, including a weapons prohibition order.
Following the arrest, the juvenile was detained for a bail hearing.
