A man from Surrey is being charged with a total of 22 criminal offenses linked to a series of shooting incidents that took place between December 2025 and August 2026.

Authorities from the Surrey Police Service (SPS) and the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) revealed on Friday that Marco Matias, a 37-year-old individual, is facing charges after investigations into multiple shootings in Surrey.

The investigations revealed that a residence near 110 Avenue and 140 Street was the target of three separate shootings in December 2025. Following a thorough investigation by SPOSU, Matias was identified as a suspect.

As a result of the investigations, the BC Prosecution Service approved a total of 12 Criminal Code charges against Matias on August 24, including charges related to the incidents at the targeted residence.

Additionally, Matias is also being charged in connection with another shooting incident that occurred on August 12.

SPS officers responded to a distress call at a residence near 60 Avenue and 177 Street, reporting that two individuals had been shot. One person sustained injuries, while the suspect managed to flee the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.

Further investigations led to the approval of 10 additional charges against Matias by the BC Prosecution Service.

Matias is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 16.
