The City of Montreal and blue-collar workers are set to engage in a conciliation phase to seek a resolution and prevent planned strike days coinciding with the Road Cycling World Championships.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing the Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés, has confirmed this development.
Conciliation-mediation is a process aimed at fostering agreement between parties involved in negotiating a collective contract by enlisting an impartial third party.
The Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de Montréal, comprising around 6,000 members, has declared their intention to stage a seven-day strike from September 22 to 28, aligned with the Road World Championships.
Meanwhile, blue-collar workers at Parc Jean-Drapeau will convene next Monday to vote on the employer’s final proposal.
