Tragedy struck at Picquet Lake in Eeyou Istchee Baie-James on Thursday as a man tragically drowned after an accident on a boat. The incident occurred when the man, along with three other individuals, leaned to one side of the boat, causing it to capsize and plunge into the water. Despite efforts, the man did not resurface, leading to a frantic rescue effort.
Fortunately, one of the other passengers who fell into the water managed to escape quickly. Authorities were alerted to the situation and promptly responded to the scene around 4:20 p.m. Divers from the Sûreté du Québec are on their way to the location and are expected to commence the search for the missing individual on Friday.
