A young man miraculously survives a murder attempt in Montreal after a frightening incident unfolded on a Friday night.
The alarming situation unfolded around 11:00 p.m. when emergency services rushed to an alley near Crémazie Boulevard West in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension neighborhood. The 22-year-old victim had been shot in the upper body and was swiftly taken to the hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.
Officer Manuel Couture from the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) confirmed that numerous shell casings and projectile impacts were discovered at the scene. The suspects managed to flee, leaving behind a chilling trail of evidence, prompting authorities to classify the incident as an attempted murder.
In a mysterious turn of events, about 45 minutes later, law enforcement responded to a vehicle fire in Senneville, located to the far west of Montreal Island. A van was engulfed in flames on Anse à l’Orme road, with reports indicating the use of incendiary materials.
Officer Couture revealed that the investigation has been handed over to the arson unit of the SPVM, as they explore potential connections between the fiery incident and the earlier murder attempt. Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the fire, and no suspects have been apprehended yet.
Despite the night’s unsettling events, the young man is now in stable condition, recovering from the harrowing ordeal.
