Toronto police arrested a woman on Sunday following an investigation into a dog attack incident. The incident occurred in the Summerhill area near Avenue Road and Roxborough Street earlier in the week. Authorities claim that Tanychia Black, a 40-year-old Toronto resident, had her two dogs in an off-leash enclosed area of a nearby park on Thursday.
According to detectives, a victim was walking their leashed dog in the park when Black’s dogs managed to escape the enclosure. They then charged at the victim and their dog, resulting in injuries to both. While the victim escaped serious harm, their dog suffered life-threatening injuries.
Black has been charged with multiple offences, including criminal negligence causing bodily harm, obstructing a police officer, failing to prevent a dog from biting or attacking, and a dog biting a person or domestic animal under the Dog Owners’ Liability Act. She is set to appear in a Toronto court later today.
The police have not been able to locate the two dogs involved in the attack. Authorities urge the public to exercise caution and avoid approaching the dogs if spotted. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the dogs is encouraged to contact investigators.
