Enrico Proietti, a Montreal father, received a life-altering diagnosis of stage 3 pancreatic cancer almost two years ago. Now, alongside his daughter Alessia, he is using their journey to inspire and support others facing similar battles.
The initial shock of the diagnosis hit Enrico hard, as a tumour near his pancreas was revealed on a CT scan. Despite enduring over 30 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, surgery remains out of reach due to the tumour’s location, leaving him in a challenging situation.
For Alessia, the news of her father’s diagnosis was equally jolting, disrupting their lives in ways they could have never anticipated. With no prior family history of the disease, they grappled with the uncertainties of treatments and the emotional toll of being caregivers.
Their unexpected journey led them to Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society, a support network that provided them with a sense of community and purpose. Through fundraising efforts like the Kicking PancreAS 5K event, Enrico and Alessia have raised awareness and funds to aid in pancreatic cancer research and support.
Despite the hardships and uncertainties they face, both Enrico and Alessia are determined to spread a message of hope and resilience. As they gear up for this year’s Kicking PancreAS 5K on Sept. 19, they aim to not just raise funds but also to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer and empower others to find light in the darkness.
Keyphrase: Pancreatic Cancer Awareness
