Laval Mayor Courageously Reveals Brain Tumour Battle in Heartfelt Online Message

Laval Mayor Stéphane Boyer bravely shared a personal update on social media this week, revealing a photo of the brain tumour he is currently facing. In a candid post, Boyer disclosed that he recently had his initial consultation with a neurosurgeon and likened the size of the tumour to that of a golf ball. This revelation comes shortly after the mayor disclosed his brain tumour diagnosis just a week ago.

The mayor explained that persistent headaches and visual disturbances over several months led him to seek medical attention, ultimately resulting in an MRI scan. Boyer has been candid about his ongoing battle with ankylosing spondylitis, a condition known for causing spinal inflammation, stiffness, and pain.

Despite the emotional toll of the diagnosis, Boyer is maintaining a positive outlook and finding joy in the simple things in life, like indulging in his favorite treat – donuts. Reflecting on the situation, he shared, “I went to get my favourite donuts to share at the office.”

In 2021, Boyer made history as the youngest mayor of Laval at the age of 33, and he secured re-election in 2025.
