Flavie, a lovable golden retriever mix, has been serving as the school’s facility service dog for three years, offering invaluable support to the school community in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.
Students like Sandro have found solace and motivation in Flavie’s presence. “When I first met Flavie, it really inspired me to come to school every day,” Sandro shared.
Certified through the ASISTA Foundation, Flavie, together with her handler Myriam Farley, the student life coordinator, engages with students in various settings within the school.
Haley, another student at L.I.N.K.S., described Flavie as a source of comfort and reliability. “She’s just really comforting, you can always rely on her,” Haley expressed.
Flavie’s role extends beyond providing companionship. Trained to assist with self-regulation, behavior plans, and classroom learning, Flavie also helps students navigate moments of anxiety and distress.
