Police in Toronto discovered two bodies in separate burnt vehicles in Scarborough and Etobicoke late Monday night.
Emergency crews responded to a hydro field near Steeles Avenue East and Reesor Road in east Scarborough at 11:24 p.m. where a body was found in a burnt vehicle. The individual’s identity has not been confirmed.
Shortly after, another burnt vehicle with a body inside was found in the James Gardens Park area near Royal York Road and Eglinton Avenue West just before 1 a.m. Reports of explosions and smoke were noted in the park.
Paramedics were on the scene but did not release further information.
Authorities have not established a connection between the two incidents nor confirmed the cause of death for the individuals.
The Toronto police homicide unit is involved in the investigation, with a significant police presence at both locations.
