Durham authorities have arrested a 23-year-old man from Oshawa following a distressing incident where a woman reported being drugged and sexually assaulted at his residence during the weekend.
The incident unfolded when the woman, who had lost consciousness during the assault, managed to alert the police after regaining consciousness. She detailed her harrowing experience of having been drugged and assaulted at the man’s home, which she had visited after connecting with him on Snapchat.
Responding to the distress call on September 19 in the vicinity of Bond Street East and Wilson Road North, officers found the victim outside the residence. She was promptly transported to the hospital, where tests confirmed the presence of harmful substances in her system. The suspect, identified as Nicholas Paul Lafrance, was subsequently apprehended by the authorities without any resistance.
Lafrance, 23, faces charges of sexual assault, administering a noxious substance, and forcible confinement. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing. Concerned about the possibility of additional victims, investigators have shared a photo of the accused and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
